REQUIREMENTS
Position Description: Housing Code Inspector III – The contractor shall be responsible for performing all appropriate regulatory violations pursuant to the International Code Council Certifications (ICC) model, as well as the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations, Title 12, local amendments
Experience/Knowledge: Knowledge/Experience Required/Desired Years of experience Expert knowledge and application of the ICC model codes and DCMR Title 12 amendments. Required ability and willingness to quickly learn new software programs and technologies associated with assigned work tasks.
Required: Ability to work well and establish positive working relationships with property owners, professional architects, engineers, contractors, public officials, fellow employees, and the general public in what can be, at times, adversarial situations.
Required: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of preparing and explaining changes that need to be made in a customer’s plans, preparing reports, speaking at in house training events.
Required: Effective and persuasive in oral and written communication when representing the client internally as well as to the public on complex inspection issues, concepts, and programs.
Required Education/Certification: Individuals shall possess three (3) years of specialized experiences equivalent to at least the grade-12 Inspector III level. Specialized experience directly related to the position which has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skill, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to include interpreting residential or commercial building inspections. HS diploma or equivalent.
Shall possess a valid driver’s license. (Proof of a valid driver's license is required).
Shall possess ICC Housing Code Inspector Certification, consisting of: Shall possess and subsequently maintain two (2) of the following International Code Council
Certifications: B1 – Residential Building Inspector. M1 – Residential Mechanical Inspector. P1 – Residential Plumbing Inspector. E1 – Residential Electrical Inspector. OR Shall possess and subsequently maintain three (3) of the following International Code Council Certifications: B1 – Residential Building Inspector. M1 – Residential Mechanical Inspector. P1 – Residential Plumbing Inspector. E1 – Residential Electrical Inspector.
AND Shall obtain and subsequently maintain a Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification relating to the International Code Council’s International Property Maintenance Code within twelve (12) months of entry into the position. OR Shall possess and subsequently maintain three (3) of the following International Code Council Certifications: B2 – Commercial Building Inspector. M2 – Commercial Mechanical Inspector. P2 – Commercial Plumbing Inspector. E2 – Commercial Electrical Inspector.
AND Shall obtain and subsequently maintain a Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification relating to the International Code Council’s International Property Maintenance Code within twelve (12) months of entry into the position.

Pay: $34.00 - $60.00 per hour
