FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE:
Plans and implements national events and programs that promotes Postal products and services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serves as event planner for a wide range of events such as high profile meetings with the Postmaster General and officers, field organizations, internal and external business meetings, receptions, dinners, and conferences. Coordinates and directs the work of event professionals, clerical staff, commercial vendors and contractors in order to implement special events and programs. Manage, plan, oversee, execute, and facilitate all management aspects.
2. Initiate, coordinates and/or participates in all efforts to publicize event. Coordinates logistical details of event such as catering, contract negotiations, audio visual, venue sourcing, event registration, entertainment, securing speakers, travel and hotel accommodations, transportation, planning and production to onsite execution and post-event analysis. Manage staff responsible for event coordination activities.
3. Acts as liaison to top management officials, internal and external partners and clients on events and projects, collaboratively planning activities to fulfill the stated objectives for a particular event.
4. Establishes the tone and direction of high profile events by coordinating with communication partners and stakeholders to identify innovation ways to generate awareness and achieve event goals. Plan and oversee event from concept through execution. provide guidance and leadership; ensure timelines are met for nationwide stamp events.
5. Develop and design communications materials such as invitations, programs, and briefing materials. Negotiate and secure event space, secure program participants and speakers that capture and communicate the events goals to audience.
6. Plan and monitor budget and ensure allocations are adhered to. Manages the budget and purchase card expense reports, compiling expense revenue reports, process invoices, and make cost effective decisions and purchases.
7. Assists stakeholders and clients to use their resources more effectively and set future strategy by conducting after action reviews, compiling post event reports and survey results.

Manager of unit to which assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to apply business processes and practices in managing national programs, including planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring the work of employees, contractors, programs, projects in order to meet environmental compliance and risk mitigation goals.
- Ability to work within a cross functional environment to generate creative and innovative ideas that enhance events and promote postal products, services and brand recognition.
- Knowledge of business strategies and practices and competencies in support of large scale meetings and/or events. Applying management analysis and problem solving skills, to include; budget development and implementation; cost analysis; contracting; facility preparations; transportation; scheduling of activities; decision-making; and project management.
- Ability to oversee the work of others to achieve program objectives, including coordinating tasks, and providing technical guidance and feedback for national events.
- Ability to assist in the preparation of purchasing solicitations, analysis of proposals, and negotiation of contract terms and conditions with vendors.
- Knowledge and understanding of current trends in information technology, social media and audio and video equipment.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing to implement strategic communication plans, requiring cross-functional coordination across multiple groups, including employees, media and other diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to travel and work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Ability to effectively manage workload related to multiple projects, which include developing timelines, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deliverable to achieve goals.
- Ability to develop theme strategies that promote products and services, generate awareness, increase attendance and achieve the goals of local and national events.
